Mikel Arteta reiterates desire to sign more before transfer deadline

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reiterated his desire to sign a few more players for the Gunners before the September 1 transfer deadline.

The Gunners have been quite active so far this summer, spending £75m on Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko alone – both of whom made impressive starts against Crystal Palace on Friday night.

Another £30m has been spent on Fabio Vieira, while Marquinhos hails from So Paulo and goalkeeper Matt Turner has finally completed his switch from the New England Revolution.

But with more than three weeks out of the summer window to potentially do business, Arsenal still have the opportunity to bring in more new faces.

“We’re going to try [for more signings]”Arteta reflected on defeating Crystal Palace.

“There are some things we have planned. If we can do them, that would be great. For the time being, we will work with the players we have. We are already in the middle of the season.”

Arteta did it too likewise said At the end of July – “if the market allows.”

Technical director Edu also said that recently ‘there is a lot to do’, although he was referring to potential outgoing players rather than just upcoming deals.

“There’s a lot of excitement after the summer, the transfer window but also the performance in the pre-season,” sky game Pundit Gary Neville said during coverage of the Crystal Palace game.

“He has consolidated that centre-forward position, which was an absolute necessity. Gabriel Jesus is an excellent player who doesn’t pay too much for what looks really good value, £45m. When [Arteta] sees [Marc] Cucurella has gone for over £60m so you’d think Arsenal did good business. They just look strong on all sides. ,

However, Neville had reservations about the center of midfield, suggesting that Granit Xaka may still be a weak link for the Gunners who require additional cover.

“He’s always going to let you down at some point in the season, so you think, you should plan for it now. You know it’s coming,” said the former Manchester United captain.
